Explanation of Events and Rules governing them

1. PRO AM

These events are for Professional dancers either competing or non competing, dancing with an Amateur dancer either registered or non registered.

 

Division Guidelines – Blackpool Event

  • PLATINUM LEVEL: Any Registered competing Professional with a registered competing Amateur – Non Restricted Syllabus (Under 12 – Restricted Syllabus)

  • DIAMOND LEVEL:  Any Registered competing Professional with a non-registered Amateur  – Non-Restricted Syllabus (Under 12 – Restricted Syllabus)

  • EMERALD LEVEL: Any Non-Competing Professional with any Amateur (registered or non-registered) – Non-Restricted Syllabus (Under 12 – Restricted Syllabus)

  • TOPAZ LEVEL: Any Non-Competing Professional with a non-registered Amateur – Non-Restricted Syllabus (Under 12 – Restricted Syllabus)

  • AMBER LEVEL:  Any Non-Competing Professional with a non-registered Amateur – Restricted Syllabus

 

Division Guidelines – Area Events

  • SAPPHIRE LEVEL: Any Professional dancing with any Amateur Dancer – Non-Restricted Syllabus

  • OPAL LEVEL: Any Professional dancing with any Amateur Dancer – Restricted Syllabus

Partner changes are not permitted in any one event.

Definition of Registered Amateur/Professional:

A competitor who requires membership from their countries’ governing dance body to compete in open competitions (this is not a medalist, social or hobby dancer)

 

Age categories – All Events:

All the above levels will be offered in the following age groups:​​

  • Under 12: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer (11 years and under)

  • 12-15 years: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer (12 years to 15 years inclusive)

  • Under 25: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer (16 years old plus)

  • Under 40: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer (16 years old plus)

  • 40 & Over: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer

  • 60 & Over: This must be the age of the Amateur dancer

The Age Category of the dancer is the age on the day of the competition.

If the age allows, entry is permitted in more than one section in each genre.

Each event will be a 3 dance final. Dances for all rounds and finals will be selected from The Hat at the commencement of each round unless stated. Dances to be selected from the 5 Ballroom or Latin dances.

 

Syllabus Guidelines – All Events:

Non-restricted syllabus: Open choreography.
Restricted syllabus: See Syllabus page.

Costume requirements – All Events:

No restrictions, except Under 12 sections – Juvenile dress restrictions apply.

Role changing:

Each competition and dance within that must be completed in the same role. No role changing is permitted mid dance.

2. TEACHER/COACH STUDENT

These events are for any Professional or Amateur Coach dancing with a non-teaching Amateur Dancer at four levels.

Division Guidelines – All Events:​​

  • RUBY LEVEL: Any Amateur/Professional Teacher dancing with any non-registered Amateur  Student – Non-Restricted Syllabus

  • TURQUOISE LEVEL: Any Amateur/Professional Teacher dancing with any non-registered Amateur  Student – Restricted Syllabus

  • PEARL LEVEL: Any Amateur/Professional Teacher dancing with any registered or non-registered Amateur Student  – Non-Restricted Syllabus (Registered couples can not compete together)

  • CORAL LEVEL: Any Amateur/Professional Teacher dancing with any registered or non-registered Amateur Student  – Restricted Syllabus (Registered couples can not compete together)

 

Only one partner change is allowed in one event.

Age categories – All Events:​​

  • Under 10 years: This must be the age of the student

  • Under 12 years: This must be the age of the student

  • 12-13 years: This must be the age of the student

  • 14-15 years: This must be the age of the student

  • Over 16: This must be the age of the student

  • Under 25: This must be the age of the student (16 years plus)

  • Under 40: This must be the age of the student (16 years plus)

  • 40 & Over: This must be the age of the student

  • 60 & Over: This must be the age of the student

  • 70 & Over: This must be the age of the student 

  • 80 & Over: This must be the age of the Student 

The Age Category of the dancer is the age on the day of the competition.

If the age allows, entry is permitted in more than one section in each genre.

Children may also dance in higher age categories (if applicable) but they cannot dance in a lower age category.

Adults may also dance in lower age categories  (if applicable and not into Junior age levels) but they cannot dance in a higher age category.

 

BDC registered applies to those in couples and not those registered as a solo dancer for 2023 and for all dancers under 16.

Each event will be 2 dance final. Dances for each round will be selected from The Hat at the commencement of each round unless stated. Please see event leaflet for dances.

Costume requirements – All Events:

Under 10 and Under 12: As per normal regulations (NOTE: no stones, no glitter, no sparkle, no tail suit).
12 and Over: no restrictions.

Role changing:

Each competition and dance within that must be completed in the same role. No role changing is permitted mid dance.

Open events

These “open” events are for all age groups and levels combined and are two dance events as listed rather than form the hat 

3. U.K. SOLO DANCE

These events are for any solo Amateur dancer, no partner is allowed.

Division Guidelines:

  • FIRST STEP: restricted syllabus: see the Syllabus page for details

  • MEDIAL: restricted syllabus: see the Syllabus page for details

  • OPEN: non-restricted syllabus

  • ELITE: non-restricted syllabus

Competitors dancing in the Medial events may also dance in the Open events; competitors dancing in First Step Events may also dance in Medial Events.

Competitiors dancing in the Elite or four dance sections may be from any of the other three divisions

Age categories:

  • Under 6 years

  • Under 8 years

  • Under 10 years

  • Under 12 years

  • Under 14 years

  • Under 16 years

  • Under 18 years

  • Under 25 years

  • Over 25 years

  • Over 35 years

  • Over 50 years

The Age Category of the dancer is the age on the day of the competition.

All Under 16 competitors may also dance in any higher age category 

All Over 16 competitors may also dance in any lower Adult age category if applicable

You do not need to be registered to dance in the First Step category.

First Step – for the dancer new to events and restricted syllabus

Medial – the restricted syllabus events 

Open – Open routines 

Elite – Open routines

Costume requirements:

Under 10s and under 12s: As per standard regulations (NOTE: no stones, no glitter, no sparkle, no tail suit).

Under 14, under 16s and higher – any dress permitted.

Due to the nature of the events, IE solos, heavy arm jewellery, bangles, and floaters should be kept to a minimum.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

General Admission Tickets are required by all those entering the Ballroom, plus any Entry Fees (if applicable)

On entering any ProAm Champions competition ProAm Champions will have the authority to publish any photographs taken by an official ProAm Champions photographer.

Competitors must inform the organiser on the day of the event if they do not wish their images to be used by ProAm Champions.

ProAm Champions will not be held responsible for any images published taken by non-authorised photographers.

A  Late Registration Fee will be added to ALL Entries made on the day if the organiser has not been previously informed – entries will only be taken if it does not affect the running of the events -  if the events are not listed extra entries cannot be taken for those events 

In order to collect your number card you must know the number required. This would have been on your confirmation email from E2D.

We are not responsible for the loss of a number card collected by any party (a dancer, a parent or a teacher). 

CANCELATION POLICY

Entry fees:
Please note All Fees are due in advance for each event. No entries will be processed without full payment. 

These fees are non-refundable.

Advance Ticket Sales On-Line:
Advance Tickets Sales for all our events are non-refundable.

 

Covid-19:
If you are affected by Covid-19, refunds/voucher may only by considered on production of a name/dated/positive PCR test required by the Government. 

Weather Cancellation:
Refunds will only be applicable if the event is cancelled before the scheduled date by the organisers by an official statement. 

Government Cancellation:

Refunds will be available if entries and/or tickets are purchased before the day, this caused by cancellation of the event imposed by local authorities or government. 

Third-party costs: 
The event and organisers will not be held liable for any third-party costs incurred relating to any of the above issues.

A 10% Admin Fee will be deducted against any refunds OR a Credit Voucher may be issued if desired. 

Any refunds will only be considered up to 48 hours after the completion of the said event 

The decision of the organiser - ProAm Champions Ltd - is final on all matters.
